XMP Spy from Altova is a very good but technical XML toolkit. This is useful for the very technical users.

The proprietary toolkits form the housing management systems are limited to converting specific proprietary data structures into the required XML

Others such as the NRSOH Survey Systems Software take a more independent approach and convert standard CSV or Excel format into XML from its own database and other external systems, providing a much needed survey integrator.
